Capacity

80×120 Data Center Steel Buildings for Growing IT Loads

An 80×120 data center building gives you 9,600 square feet of flexible, mission-critical space. It is a great choice when you need more room than a small edge site, but you are not ready for a massive hyperscale facility. With clear-span steel framing and a pre engineered metal building design, you get open space for racks, cable trays, and hot and cold aisles without interior columns getting in the way.

This size works well for single-hall deployments, regional data center projects, or high-value enterprise systems. You can group server storage by function, support high-density data processing, and still leave space for staging areas and future growth as your business grows.

Layout

Flexible Floor Plans for Racks and Support Spaces

Inside the 80×120 footprint, you can create a layout that matches your data center design. Many owners divide the floor into white space for racks, support rooms for UPS and batteries, and secure office space for staff. The open steel frame makes it easy to adjust wall locations and door openings as your needs change.

Because you are building data center space with steel, you can plan wide aisles, overhead cable pathways, and room for containment systems. This helps you maintain clean airflow patterns and good access for maintenance, which keeps your team working safely and efficiently.

Efficiency

Support an Energy Efficient Data Center

Energy efficiency is a major factor in long-term operational costs. An 80×120 steel data center building allows you to combine a tight, well-insulated shell with efficient cooling systems and smart controls. By controlling air leaks and thermal bridges, you reduce wasted energy and help your cooling system perform at its best.

With the right envelope, your equipment can stay within strict temperature ranges while using less power. Lower power consumption can also reduce environmental impact over the life of the facility. Our metal building kits give your mechanical and electrical teams a solid base to design an efficient data center around, with built-in cost savings on building materials and labor costs thanks to pre fabrication.

Reliability

Engineered for Mission-Critical Reliability

Your data center building has to protect the systems your customers depend on. TruSteel’s 80×120 data center steel buildings are engineered to meet local codes for wind, snow, and seismic conditions. The rigid steel frame supports heavy data center infrastructure, including cable trays, bus ducts, generators, and cooling equipment.

This structural integrity helps protect uptime by reducing unexpected movement or damage when weather hits. Strong walls and roof systems also support better security, giving you a solid foundation for access control, cameras, and other safeguards around your critical equipment.

Scalability

Plan for Future Expansion on Your Site

Few data centers stay the same size for long. The 80×120 footprint is large enough to support serious capacity today, while still fitting on many commercial and industrial sites. As demand grows, you can extend the building along the 120-foot side, add a second hall on the same pad, or mirror the design on another part of your property.

Because the main structure is steel, it is easier to plan expansion joints, future door openings, and additional equipment yards from the start. Compared to traditional construction methods, steel buildings offer more predictable construction times and a more cost effective shell. This gives you a smart path from your first data center project to a larger campus, without starting over every time you add capacity.

What You Need to Know About Roof Pitch

Selecting the ideal roof pitch for your metal building kit is an important decision that hinges on a few key considerations. If your area is prone to heavy snowfall, opting for a steeper roof pitch can help snow management. However, it’s important to balance this with the cost implications, as a higher pitch can increase the overall price of your building.

A 0.25:12 roof pitch strikes that perfect balance for most customers. This pitch is not only cost-effective but is as efficient in bearing snow weight as a 6:12 pitch. While a higher pitch can aid in shedding snow more quickly, remember that it comes with a higher cost. Our goal is to help you make an informed choice that aligns with both your environmental needs and budget, ensuring your building is both functional and financially feasible.
